Fall events at SFCS!

Fall Events

Students in grades 4 and 7 attended a concert at the NJPAC titled "Music for the Seasons".  Following, the same students had a tour of the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark.  As a special treat, Dr. John Miller provided an in depth explanation of how the organ works and played a song by J. S. Bach.

St. Francis Cathedral School competed in the Bishop Ahr High School Student Ambassador Grammar School Competition.

There were 5 events.  SFCS drama came in 1st place. SFCS athletics came in 1st place. As a team, our combined score in all 5 events earned us 2nd place out of the 14 participating elementary schools in the diocese.

SFCS showed great school spirit, amazing teamwork, and wonderful sportsmanship.

Congratulations on a job well done!

Bishop Ahr

Recently, 3A used technology, geography, and some stellar detective work as we played “Mystery Skype” with another third grade class. Using the Smart Board,  iPads,  and netbooks, we were able to see and hear the other class as they gave us clues about where they were located. After a lot of hard work, and with the help of the amazing World Book Online atlas, we discovered that we were Skypeing with a class in Ontario, Canada. It was a lot of fun and a great learning experience for everyone. We can’t wait to connect with another classroom soon!

Congratulations to our 4th and 5th grade spelling bee participants and winner, Olivia C.
